Investec Home Loans & Vehicle Finance for Individuals

Note on rates: Investec structures home loan and vehicle finance pricing individually based on affordability, credit profile and the asset being financed. The figures below are the headline terms Investec publishes; your actual rate and approved amount depend on an individual assessment. Investec Private Banking is a registered credit provider, registration number NCRCP9, regulated under the National Credit Act.

Vehicle finance

Investec offers finance for new or pre-owned vehicles at rates of up to prime minus 1% for qualifying Private Banking clients. Vehicle finance balances also count towards your Investec Rewards partnership score, since Investec Instalment Sales average monthly capital balances are a qualifying product for Rewards points.

Separately, Rewards members can earn one Rewards point for every R5 spent (excluding VAT and accessories, up to 200,000 points per deal) on a new, demo or used vehicle bought through Bidvest McCarthy, financed through Investec or paid by EFT from a Private Bank Account, provided the vehicle is for private use and registered in the client’s name. On the outstanding balance itself, you’ll earn a minimum of 1 Rewards point for every R2,000 of the outstanding capital balance.

Vehicle finance is only available to existing Investec Private Bank Account clients — it isn’t a standalone product you can apply for without banking with Investec first. On the terms themselves: there are no early settlement fees if you pay off the loan sooner, and the monthly financing administration fee is waived if you service the loan by debit order from your Private Bank Account. You can also access any additional funds you pay into the loan during its term, letting you save on interest or shorten the loan without penalty.

Investec bundles in preferential Pinion vehicle insurance through Aon South Africa, including up to R25,000 of credit shortfall cover and no excess in the first year of cover — worth factoring into the real cost of financing versus insuring a vehicle separately.

Home loans

Investec provides home loan finance for individuals as part of its broader Finance for Individuals offering, alongside vehicle finance. Rather than using an automated credit scorecard, Investec’s Credit team assesses each home loan application individually to determine affordability. Investec Private Home Loan balances also count towards your Rewards partnership score — you’ll earn a minimum of 1 Rewards point for every R2,000 of your outstanding capital balance, and the monthly financing administration fee is waived if you pay by debit order from your Private Bank Account.

Two further benefits worth knowing: Investec offers a 40% discount on the bond attorney’s fees, and bundles in Investec Life’s Enhanced Mortgage Protection Cover, which settles the home loan on death or permanent disability — with Investec covering the first three premiums on a new policy at no cost.

Young Professionals: up to 100% home finance

Clients on the Young Professionals track (under 30, with a relevant professional qualification) can access enhanced home loan terms — Investec markets this as up to 100% finance for a first home, with terms tailored to the client, on top of the reduced R355 monthly account fee.

Young Professionals also get two benefits beyond finance itself — R25,000 of complimentary life cover through LifeStarter, and a discounted online share trading account — covered in full on the Complete Bank Guide.

How to apply

Finance applications go through your Private Banker or Investec’s contact form, where you select “Home loan” or “Vehicle finance” and indicate the amount required. Investec requests employer details and will perform a credit check as part of the application, consistent with standard National Credit Act requirements for any registered credit provider.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the best vehicle finance rate Investec offers?

Up to prime minus 1% for qualifying Private Banking clients — your actual rate depends on an individual credit assessment.

Can I get 100% home loan finance from Investec?

Young Professionals under 30 with a relevant qualification may qualify for up to 100% finance on a first home. Terms for other clients are assessed individually.

Do home loan and vehicle finance balances earn Investec Rewards points?

Yes — average monthly capital balances on Investec Private Home Loans and Instalment Sales (including vehicle finance) count as qualifying balances for Rewards.

Does Investec offer a standalone personal loan?

Not as a distinct, unsecured “personal loan” product in the way a retail bank might. Investec’s individual lending is structured as asset-based finance — home loans and vehicle finance — assessed individually by its Credit team rather than sold as a generic personal loan.
